Meter Burn — Privacy Policy

Meter Burn is a solo training app: an iPhone studio for authoring your programs and reviewing your history, and an Apple Watch app for running a workout and logging your sets. This policy explains what data the app handles and where it lives. The short version: your data stays on your own devices, in your own iCloud, and in Apple Health — nothing is sent to us or to anyone else.

Effective date 13 September 2026.

What the app handles

  • Your training data — the programs and workouts you author, and the sets you log (reps, loads, duration, distance, and your RPE ratings). You enter this yourself. It is stored on your device and, if you are signed into iCloud, synced through your own private iCloud (CloudKit) database so your devices stay in step.
  • Completed workouts written to Apple Health — when you finish a workout, Meter Burn saves it to Apple Health as a workout record (an HKWorkout), with your permission.
  • Heart rate and active energy — Meter Burn reads your heart rate and active energy from HealthKit in two places. During a workout on Apple Watch, to show your live effort on screen and to include in the workout it saves to Apple Health. And afterwards on your iPhone, when you open a workout's record in History or see the summary at the end of one, to show what that bout asked of you. In both cases the readings are not stored by the app — they are read when you look at them and remain in Apple Health, under Apple's end-to-end encryption. The one exception is the readable (Markdown) export described below: if you choose, for that export alone, to include them.
  • Body composition — only if you turn it on — if you switch on Body composition in Settings, the iPhone reads your body mass, body fat percentage and lean body mass from Apple Health, together with your workouts and the active energy recorded for them, to draw your body trend with your training overlaid on it. This is display only: nothing read here is saved by the app or written to your iCloud, and it is never included in the app's data-file export. Leave the setting off and the app requests none of it and shows nothing. Meter Burn never writes body data to Apple Health.
  • The readable export — only if you choose to include it, each time — History's Export menu offers a second, human-readable document alongside the data file, for you to hand to an AI assistant or read yourself. Before it is made, the app asks whether to include your heart rate, active energy, and — if you have body composition on and this device already has permission — your body composition, for that export alone. The choice starts switched off every time; it is never remembered, never synced, and never turns into a setting. Whatever you choose reaches only that one file, which goes wherever you send it — the app itself does not send it anywhere. The data-file export never carries any of this, whatever you have chosen for the readable one.
  • A picture you attach to an exercise — you can attach one photograph to an exercise to show how it is done or how its machine is set up. It is your own picture: chosen from your photo library, pasted from your clipboard, or shared to Meter Burn from another app. The app ships no exercise imagery of its own and never uses the camera. The picture is stored on your device at a reduced size and, if you are signed into iCloud, synced through your own private iCloud (CloudKit) database so your Apple Watch can show it too. It is never included in any export, and it is gone when you remove it or delete the app. Meter Burn does not look at what is in it: nothing is recognised, analysed or derived from a picture.
  • Workouts as a spreadsheet (CSV) — from a program you can export its workouts, or one of them, as a CSV document, and you can bring workouts in the same way: paste one, or choose a file. The document carries only the prescription — the exercises, sets, reps, loads and rests — and never carries any Apple Health data, whatever you chose for the readable export. It goes to the share sheet or to your clipboard, both at your tap and to a destination you pick; the app sends it nowhere. A document you import is one you supply, and nothing from it is written until you confirm what you are shown.

How the app collects it

  • Training data is entered by you in the app — typed in, or imported from a CSV document you paste or choose yourself.
  • A picture you attach to an exercise is supplied by you, in one of three ways: chosen from your photo library, pasted from your clipboard, or handed to Meter Burn by another app's share sheet. None of the three asks for access to your photo library — you choose the one picture and the app receives only that — and the camera is never used.
  • Heart rate, active energy, and — if you enable Body composition — your body mass, body fat percentage and lean body mass are read from Apple Health with your explicit permission, which you grant (and can revoke) in the Health permission prompt or in Settings → Privacy & Security → Health. The app asks for the body-composition readings only at the moment you turn the setting on.

How it is used

Solely to coach you: to run your workouts, suggest progressions, show your history and trends, and display your live effort. There is no other use.

What the app does not do

  • No account and no login — there is nothing to sign up for.
  • No analytics, no tracking, and no advertising — the app does not track you across apps or websites.
  • No third-party SDKs or services — the app links no analytics, advertising, or data-broker code.
  • No data sent to us or to third parties — Avant Media LTD does not receive your training or health data, however you use the app, including its exports. It never leaves your own devices, your private iCloud, and Apple Health, except when you yourself choose to send an export somewhere — the app never chooses a destination for one, and never sends one itself.
  • Health data is never used for advertising, marketing, or data mining, and is never shared by the app with any third party. You may choose to include it in a readable export and send that export yourself — to an AI assistant, or anywhere else — which is your act, each time, never the app's, and never one it remembers.

Where your data lives, and how to delete it

Your data lives only on your devices, in your private iCloud, and in Apple Health — all under your control:

  • Delete the app to remove its data from a device; deleting from iCloud storage removes the synced copy.
  • Remove workouts in the Apple Health app to delete what Meter Burn wrote there.
  • Revoke HealthKit access any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Health.

Because we hold none of your data, there is nothing on our side to request, export, or delete — it is all yours to manage directly.

Children

Meter Burn is a general fitness app and is not directed at children.
